TELL US ABOUT THE MEZCAL NEGRONI COCKTAIL RECIPE

The original Negroni is said to have been invented in Italy when Count Camillo Negroni asked for Gin instead of Soda Water in his Americano cocktail.

However, despite popularity in Europe it was only much later that the drink became popular, gaining popularity in the last decade.

The Negroni became popular in New York, helped in part by the many Tequila and Mezcal bars which popularised the Mezcal Negroni recipe, as well as the original.

Both Tequila and Mezcal are made by distilling parts of the Agave plant. Mezcal is a spirit with a smoky feel, more than able to hold it’s own against the flavour of the Campari and Vermouth.

EXPERT TIP

Never, ever shake a Negroni.

Shaking will overly dilute the drink and knocklic the flavour and aromatic profile out of balance.
