10 Best Cocktails for Valentine’s Day

Strawberry Margarita

Strawberries (and cream) are often a favoured food on Valentine’s day but do you know what’s better than strawberries? Strawberries and alcohol. 

Everyone loves a margarita so why not liven up your senses with a frozen strawberry margarita. 

Ingredients

1 Cup Ice

450g Frozen Strawberries

50ml Tequila

25ml Cointreau

25ml Lime Juice

Method

Add all ingredients to a blender (make sure it’s a heavy-duty one and not a bullet) and blend briefly to mix all ingredients. 

Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a fresh strawberry.

Chocolate Martini

If you’re looking for something a little more indulgent and to satisfy a sweet tooth, look no further than the Chocolate Martini. 

You don’t need to waste time buying your significant other chocolates for Valentine’s day when you can instead mix up an after-dinner cocktail that’s smooth, sweet and most importantly – quite a bit boozy.

Ingredients

50ml Irish Cream Liqueur

50ml Coffee Liqueur 

50ml Vodka

5ml Chocolate Syrup 

Method

Fill a cocktail shaker with the ingredients above and ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker becomes cold to touch. 

Strain into a chilled martini glass. 

Garnish with shaved chocolate or a drizzle of chocolate syrup. 

Rum Sunset

It’ll likely be a dark and miserable night in terms of weather on Valentine’s day (typical UK weather), so if you want something to brighten up your night we’d recommend a Rum Sunset. 

The Rum Sunset is a twist on the Tequila Sunrise and offers a fruity and colourful cocktail, while the base is made from a light rum, you can swap this out for a spiced rum or a coconut rum like Malibu. 

Perfect for imagining and planning a romantic getaway. 

Ingredients

75ml Light Rum

200ml Orange Juice

15ml Grenadine

Method

Mix the orange juice and rum in a pitcher. Pour slowly into a chilled glass with ice whilst also adding the grenadine to create a layered colour for the drink. 

Garnish with a lime wheel. 

Best Valentine’s Day Cocktails With Vodka

Espresso Martini

If you need a bit of a pick-me-up for Valentine’s day, very few drinks will get you there quite like an Espresso Martini!

The combination of coffee and alcohol is one you wouldn’t think go well together but if you’ve been at work all day on the 14th and need to perk up quickly, this is the ideal cocktail to get the night started with. 

Ingredients

25ml Vodka

25ml Coffee Liqueur

50ml Fresh Espresso Coffee

5ml Gomme

Cosmopolitan

Made famous by Sex and the City, the Cosmopolitan (or ‘Cosmo’) is a classic cocktail that’s also a guilty pleasure for many people. 

If you want something sweet to get the party started, look no further than a Cosmopolitan. 

Ingredients

25ml Citron Vodka

25ml Cointreau

7.5ml Lime Juice

50ml Cranberry Juice

2 Dashes Orange Bitters (optional)

Best Valentine’s Day Cocktails With Gin

Pink Negroni

A Negroni is in the top 10 best cocktails of all time – on any list – so the pink version is a great variation for a romantic Valentine’s day cocktail. 

Ingredients

35ml Pink Gin

25ml Rose Vermouth

15ml Aperol

Method

Add all ingredients to a small tumbler glass with ice. Stir until all ingredients are mixed and garnish with a wedge of pink grapefruit.  

Gin Fizz

Simple, easy to make and incredibly refreshing. 

It’s not the most romantic cocktail on this list but if you have more indulgent treats planned then it’s a good cocktail to chill out and relax with. 

Ingredients

50ml Gin

25ml Lemon Juice

15ml Sugar Syrup

Top Soda

Method

Add the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup to a shaker filled with ice. Shake for around 20 seconds until the outside is cold. 

Strain into a chilled highball glass and top with soda.

It’s fair to say that the name says it all with this cocktail. 

One of the most popular cocktails in the UK, the scent and flavour of the Pornstar Martini is enough to spark romance instantly in any relationship.
